Modulina Straw Panels is an innovative company specializing in the production of sustainable building materials, specifically prefabricated, load-bearing timber frame panels that utilize compressed straw as an insulation material.
Founded in Lithuania in 2015, Modulina Straw Panels plays a pioneering role in the development of innovative timber construction systems. Although Modulina was not the first company to launch straw-insulated modules on the market, it made a significant contribution to their further development. Company founder Žilvinas Bitinas recognised the potential of the new construction method and succeeded in improving and expanding the existing concept. His company developed a new production line that enabled the manufacture of larger and more versatile modules. Unlike the original version, Modulina’s modules can be used not only for exterior walls, but also for roof and ceiling elements. The flexible response to the needs of the construction industry is reflected not only in an extended range of applications, but also in the greater geometric variety. The company manufactures its modules customised in various thicknesses and sizes to meet the different structural requirements and thermal insulation standards. Strict quality control also ensures that Modulina modules meet the highest standards of durability and performance. In order to guarantee the regional origin of the raw materials and short transport routes, the opening of further production facilities in Europe is planned for 2025/26
Straw walls have good thermal properties. Our standard straw panel with an interior clay finish and a ventilated facade or an exterior clay plaster has the thermal transmittance of 0,13 W/m²K.
Straw is a waste material of agriculture. Using straw as construction material locks CO2 within the built structures. Wood, clay and straw naturally exist in nature and do not need to be produced.
A combination of straw, wood and clay creates a perfect range of indoor humidity levels at 40-50% without additional mechanical equipment.
Our straw panels have outstanding sound insulation properties. Being a structural element it can reduce external noise levels up to 57 dB.
One of the greatest advantages of building with straw panels is construction speed. For example, construction of 120 m2 house walls and the roof of straw panels takes only 1 day.

Modulina has initiated and is one of the resource partners of Rebuilding Ukrainian Cities Green Initiative, which has been launched together with FIABCI-Ukraine, Synchro Space Hub and ESBA in Kyiv, Ukraine on October 25th, 2023 to transform affected urban areas into models of sustainable living and provide comfortable, energy-efficient housing and public spaces. Cities and Territorial Communities which will be selected by the competition at the International Synchro Space Urban Hackathons by an international Jury formed from the experts and professionals from FIABCI International and ESBA.
