Launching the “Rebuilding Ukrainian Cities Green” Initiative at Architectural Practice 2023
In an inspiring display of collaboration and forward-thinking, FIABCI-Ukraine, in partnership with Modulina Straw Panels and SYNCHRO SPACE HUB, proudly unveiled the “Rebuilding Ukrainian Cities Green” initiative. This groundbreaking project was introduced at the “Architectural Practice” 2023 exhibition, a renowned event showcasing innovative building materials and solutions for architects and designers. The initiative was spearheaded by one of our esteemed members, Andrei Melnikov, aligning with the global charter “Building Better Lives” initiated by FIABCI, The International Real Estate Federation.
The exhibition was graced by the presence of FIABCI Vice-President Antonio Campagnoli, who extended his support to Ukrainians on their journey towards green rebuilding projects. His enlightening presentation on social equity crowdfunding and private-public partnerships shed light on essential tools for future project development and crowdfunding strategies.
We were delighted to welcome Žilvinas Bitinas from Lithuania, who enlightened the audience about the potential of straw panel prefabrication in revolutionizing Ukraine’s approach to decarbonization and reconstruction with new materials. This insight underscores the transformative power of sustainable materials in rebuilding efforts.
The event also featured the esteemed presence of our chapter president, Victoria Teslytska, who guided attendees on how to engage with the initiative through chapter membership and partnerships. The newly established committee for “Rebuilding Ukrainian Cities Green,” initiated by Kateryna Pylypchuk (Fiabci-Ukraine) and Alissa Bankovska (SYNCHRO SPACE HUB), along with contributions from Olga Royenko (voice of space agency) and Zilvinas Bitinas (Modulina Straw Panels), emphasized the critical need for a mindset shift towards green approaches and the development of comprehensive green strategies at all stakeholder levels.
The discussion panel also featured a prerecorded message from Mike Devéria, a board member and head of the Initiative Group on Ukrainian Rebuilding Projects within the European StrawBale Building Association, outlining a seven-step program for partnership in Ukrainian rebuilding efforts. Additionally, FIABCI President Elect Ramon Riera Torroba extended his gratitude to all event participants and encouraged European nations to join the green initiatives spearheaded by our community.
The “Architectural Practice” 2023 exhibition served as a beacon of hope and innovation, with the “green light” seen throughout the event symbolizing a promising start to our collective efforts. We eagerly anticipate further collaborations and the continued journey towards a sustainable future.
